About Us

Lu’s Labs is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit, foster-based rescue for labrador retrievers and lab mixes. Our mission is to assist dogs who are in need of shelter, food, and medical care with the ultimate goal of finding them permanent, loving homes.

We primarily intake from high-kill shelters throughout the southeast and rehome within 300 miles of Alexandria, Virginia.

Since our founding in 2015, Lu’s Labs has matched more than 1,600 dogs with their forever families.

I live in an area that breeds Labrador Retrievers to the point of saturation. Hundreds of beautiful dogs end up in our high kill shelter monthly. Lu’s Labs has stepped up and helped save many of those labs and gives them a second chance at love.

**In order to help our first time adopters understand the time and effort needed to have a dog, we require all first time adopters (including those that grew up with dogs but have not had one since living on their own) to foster at least one dog in the age range and energy level requested prior to adopting a dog.

Our Board

Lu’s Labs is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that use their collective experience, dedication, and compassion to fulfill the mission of the rescue.
